All of the papers used in these documents are king size.  Obviously normal size papers can be used but if you want real joints that a worthwhile the effort making then I suggest you use king size.

Rice or wheat straw papers are recommended. The thinner the paper the better.  Some people find it harder rolling with thinner papers but at the end of the day the least paper you have to smoke the better, so trim away any unnecessary bits of paper.

Wider papers are better to use when you’re being creative with your joints as you’ve got more room to play with.

The gum on papers is a very useful tool; it can indeed be a lifesaver at times.  The gum can be torn off and used as a patch to close tears and gaps or to bind things together or to seal two papers together.
